A lot of people come here. When they get their hair cut they talk about what's going on during the weekend, where they are going, or what type of activity they are going to do in a thought process with everybody else. It’s a real place of association.

I don't think there are enough social spaces in Hale County. We're missing activity centers and places for kids to go. Adults need a place to go besides night clubs or barber shops, some place where we can go to socialize. Everybody's not included in something like a night club. People do a lot of business and association at places where you dine out, but I wouldn't say it’s enough.

I would say we need something like a community center. If we had a place it would be safer. When people my age mingle with the young, the young think they should be in positions that we are in, which they really shouldn't. When the young become old enough to come out at night, the parents have to spend their nights at the house because there are no other places to go. If we had some kind of designated place where things could go on all the time, I think people would be interested in coming and creating it. It would be a neutral ground where everybody would come for community meetings, receptions, family reunions, and entertainment. We could have a gym with games for these leagues around here that have to go to a different town or play at a church with a gym.

If one single person did something of this nature, it wouldn't be a community center, would it. That would leave a lot of people saying "what's going on here?" People see things going up and they have no idea what's going on. A community center, or something of that sort, would involve everybody whether you want to be involved or not. It is a necessity.
