This area needs change. It seems like nobody else wants to make change, I feel like it’s just me.
Regardless of what I do, society will never accept me for who I am, so I’ve got to continue and not let it stop me. If I become who you want me to be, I won’t be me. If I adjust my lifestyle for someone else, I’m going to be who they want me to be and never accomplish what I want to do. I’m going to be who I am. You can accept me or not accept me.
We’ve got to become more into change. I can’t do anything about how you feel, but I can have an affect on you how me and you communicate. Try pressing forward when all seems uphill. When you try to press for something better, you always have people trying to hold you down saying “you can’t do this,” but use your positive idea, put it out there. It’s going to come together...
There’s a song I like that says “please don’t move this mountain just give me the strength to climb.” When you got people in your way you don’t want God to just move those people out your way, that going to automatically come. He’s going to make your enemies your footstool. You don’t have anything to worry about. I don’t want him to move that stumbling block because I might need to stumble to realize some of the things that I’ve done. As long as I’ve got a mountain in front of me I’ve got a peak to reach and as long as I’ve got a stumbling block I’ve got something I can step over.
It’s going to start right here in Greensboro. We’ve got dead weight in office that shouldn’t be in office. We’re in a transition but you’re in a standstill. Vote according to qualifications. People are saying “I’m black, put a black person in office, we’ll get more,” and some whites say “we’re going to take care of our own kind.” It’s the “our own kind” mentality that is really killing us.
If there’s something you want to say, be man or woman enough to be the one to say it. I will tell you exactly what I said. It’s what I’m about, how I feel, this is me. Be who you are, make your goals, and reach them. Discover what lies ahead. Realize where you are from, where you are now, and where you are going. There are eight years of school between high school and being a doctor. Fill in your path from this point to where you want to be. Open eyes that have been shut for so long, open ears up that haven’t been hearing, make some legs move that haven’t ever moved.
Weight cracks the shell. We’ve been trapped in this shell, what are we going to do once the crack opens? I’m out, my first issue is “why?” Why is all this going on? Why are we allowing our kids to fall back into what we came out of? Parents talk to your kids, don’t hold anything back from them. What is this voice? What is your opinion? Get ‘em all together. What do you want to do? Why? Do it because you want to do it! Do it because your heart.
