Our organization, League of Prayer, helps people by giving clothes and furniture. We started when a lady who lived out in the country died. They said she froze because she didn't have a blanket, and that is when we started here in the little house I had in the back.

We grew... we've had several places. In the Baptist Hill area for five years we were open three days a week. We were also over there by the HERO. In fact it was Dr. Timberlake's land and we stayed there for three years. He never did tell me to move, he charged a dollar a year.

We are a non-profit operating through the League of Prayer main office in Prattville. Our mission is to help people. We used to give food, we did that for about three years. We gave out food bags and we had over a hundred people. Right now we're taking appointments.

When people need something and we don't have it then we call people who we think might have it. Most of the time I have them go to that person’s house to pick up. We seldom ask for anything.

Most people know about us, but every once in a while I put an article in the paper. I'm getting ready to put another one in soon. It's going to say that League of Prayer has free clothes, shoes, and other items for people in Hale County.

There are people who are in need, and people who have something to give. We connect them. I would like to thank everyone for good cooperation. We really don't have to ask for anything, unless it’s some furniture or something that we don't have. As far as clothes, they really supply and cooperate well, and I appreciate that. We appreciate the people who have been helping us through the years.
